Two systems. Two connected recipes.

Choose the frame connection first. These 32T / 10–52T examples keep conventional mechanical Eagle separate from GX AXS Transmission; exact bike fit still matters.

Conventional GX Eagle

A cable-operated derailleur attaches to a derailleur hanger. This recipe uses the 52T-capable RD-GX-1-B2. A frame with a UDH can also use a conventional hanger-mounted drivetrain.

GX AXS Transmission

A wireless Full Mount derailleur uses the frame’s UDH interface with the hanger removed. Confirm your exact frame in SRAM’s fit resources before buying.

Wireless does not automatically mean Transmission: conventional Eagle AXS also exists. Transmission itself includes cable-operated Eagle 90 and 70. The recipes below identify specific GX generations.

SRAM’s GS-GX-1-B2 groupset is the manufacturer reference for this conventional family. Confirm the package’s crank variant and contents; a bottom bracket and frame-specific fittings are separate decisions.

Keep the cable, housing and shifter mount in the order. Use the service instructions for chain length, hanger alignment and derailleur adjustment.

The GS-GX-E-D1 package lists the GX Transmission crank, derailleur, cassette and chain, a Pod controller, one AXS battery and charger. It does not include a bottom bracket. Check the exact package version with the seller.

Use SRAM’s frame-specific chain-length and setup procedure, including the setup cog and setup-key position. Conventional Eagle adjustment instructions do not substitute for the Full Mount procedure.

Transmission installation, chain sizing & maintenance

DUB still needs a frame-specific selection.

The conventional example selects a 52 mm chainline; the FC-GX-D1 Transmission crank uses 55 mm and an MTB Wide spindle. Confirm the frame’s specified chainline, bottom-bracket shell, ring clearance and arm length before selecting either.

For a 73 mm BSA threaded frame, select a suitable SRAM DUB MTB bottom bracket and follow the manual’s spacer row for the exact spindle: MTB and MTB Wide are separate rows. A press-fit frame needs its own shell-specific choice. A Shimano 24 mm or Hope 30 mm bottom bracket is not a DUB substitute.

The conventional crank’s 3-bolt ring interface is not permission to fit any direct-mount ring. Match the crank interface, offset, chain family and required chainline. The Transmission crank page lists both Eagle and T-Type chain compatibility; that does not make the rear systems interchangeable.

Same freehub interface does not mean the same drivetrain.

Both selected cassettes use XD. SRAM explicitly warns against putting a Transmission cassette into a conventional Eagle rear drivetrain: interference can damage components or the frame. Keep each selected cassette, chain and rear derailleur within its documented system.

Our Hope Pro 5 wheel recipe documents the XD freehub connection and a conventional XG-1295 cassette example. It is a useful hub starting point, not approval of a complete Transmission build. Verify the wheel’s axle, spacing and frame fit too.

Road Flattop, T-Type Flattop and conventional Eagle names require model-specific checks. Appearance or twelve sprockets alone does not establish compatibility. Motor-driven bikes also need their own crank, ring and motor-interface checks.
