Shimano’s chart pairs RD-M8100-SGS with the 10–51T branch. The 10–45T branch lists different derailleur choices, including RD-M8100-GS. Both cassettes have twelve sprockets; that alone does not make them the same configuration.

SL-M8100-R uses its own clamp. The I-SPEC version, SL-M8100-IR, needs a compatible brake-lever mounting arrangement. If you choose the integrated version, check the exact lever and adapter before ordering.

Keep this recipe with mechanical M8100. Newer XT, Di2 and LINKGLIDE models require their own compatibility checks.

FC-M8100-1 has a 52 mm chainline and 172 mm Q-factor. Do not choose it from rear-hub spacing alone: the frame must permit that chainline and the crank’s clearance. The 32T ring above is an example gearing choice, not a universal recommendation.

Shimano’s exploded drawing identifies SM-CRM85 rings with their spacer, the lockring and washer, BB-MT801/BB-MT800 cups, and replacement hardware. Check what is included in the package you buy.

For a threaded frame, confirm shell width and follow the manual’s spacer arrangement. For a press-fit frame, select the appropriate bottom bracket after identifying the shell. The Hope EVO example’s 30 mm bottom bracket is not a substitute for this Shimano 24 mm setup.

The selected CS-M8100-12 needs MICRO SPLINE. Our Hope Pro 5 recipe shows the corresponding freehub assembly; the DT Swiss wheel example also identifies a specific MICRO SPLINE rear-wheel variant.

Those are interface comparisons, not a Shimano endorsement of a complete aftermarket build. Frame spacing, axle, rotor and wheel clearance still need to agree.

Hope states that its current Spiderless chainring supports Shimano HG+ chains. That is a possible route through a Hope crank and matching bottom bracket; the Hope spline-mount ring does not replace SM-CRM85 on the Shimano crank.

Changing the crank assembly means checking chainline, mounting interface, axle diameter and frame clearance again. Keep the documented rear-system combination intact unless another source establishes the change.
